Surf Re-Evolution is THIS Saturday Sept 21st, and we can't wait to share it all with you. We tried to keep this short, but there's just too much good stuff to leave out! So read on.
Firstly, we invite you to attend The Hangout at The Nevada Motel (tix not required) on Friday, Sept 20th from 6:30-9pm. Secondly, we recommend making your coffee extra strong on Saturday, the 21st (if you don't have any, grab a bag at our showroom—our Barrel and Bean Blend will certainly do the trick). The day is jam-packed with activities you'll want to attend.
Surf Re-Evolution kicks off at 8 AM at Long Sands (meet up at the bathhouse) for a surf session featuring our boards and those of any other shapers that want to share their craft. Join our crew and members of Lavender Lineup and More Women + Surf for a fun morning in the water. Been meaning to try out surfing but haven’t committed yet? This is the perfect time—Finisterre has graciously donated a variety of wetsuits for attendees to try. So come meet us at the beach.
Main event gates open at 11am, and activities promptly commence. At 11:30, channel the ocean's energy with a fluid yoga flow led by international yoga teacher and artist Lana Vogestad. All are welcome!
At 12pm, head over to our workshop for demonstrations from exhibiting shapers. Discover how wooden fins are built and shaped, how fabrics can be naturally dyed for inlays, and how inlays are laid out. Join Hydrophile for a Suminagashi and volan flexdeck layup demo and featured shaper Christian Beamish for a channel bottom shaping introduction. There will even be a mini 3D-printed surfboard demo from the guys at Blueprint Surf!
After that, explore a marketplace of creatives—an interactive space that connects brands and attendees. Bring the kiddos along to enjoy a curated play space and activities by Kit Supply + Co. Watch artists create live art and head over to Talking Threads for some live upcycled sewing. Make your own DIY surf fin keys, and if you have an old wetsuit that just can't handle another patch, drop it off at Crooked Wetsuit booth and get you a $50 credit towards a new Crooked suit!
Finding your quiver short a board or two? Make sure to head over to the Surf Exchange Company booth—they'll be hosting a board swap. Hit it up early, and you might just find a Grain board or two in the mix!
Be sure to fill in a raffle slip at the gate—your admission gets you one ticket, but more will be available for purchase. By attending, you’ll have a chance to win the first-ever Christian Beamish 8'3 MLBB model in our GrainRail construction. The drawing will be around 3 PM, so make sure you're on the grounds as the winner must be present!
From there, join Grain and The Momentum Founders to kick off our Speaker Series. This year, we have three panels and an epic keynote. Join us in discussions about the latest advancements in materials, techniques, and designs shaping the future of performance and durability in surfboards. Hear from experts and manufacturers about sustainable and innovative materials, their sourcing, manufacturing processes, and potential applications. Learn from a panel of changemakers discussing the urgent need for environmental activism in the face of unprecedented climate conditions.
After the panels, we’re thrilled to welcome Ben Moon to Maine and our Speaker Series stage! Known for his vibrant adventure imagery that has graced Patagonia catalogs for over two decades, Ben has shifted his focus to filmmaking in recent years. His production company, Moonhouse, collaborates with friends and creatives to bring thought-provoking and impactful stories to life. Ben's unique ability to connect with his subjects and his talent for visual storytelling have led him to create emotionally resonant and visually stunning films. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to hear from and connect with Ben Moon and to snag a copy of his book, Denali.
Throughout the day enjoy food from R&R Foods, LaCasita and Grateful Gardens and some special treats from Pappy Booths Sorbet. Chris Gauthier (aka Merman) will be spinning records most of the day and from 2-3pm, tune in to some live music from one of our favorite bands, Summer the Winter.
At 7:30pm grab a seat for a film we’re truly excited about. Some Like It Classic is an independent feature surf film entirely shot on beautiful 16 mm color film over seven years, documenting longboarding and the beginning of Hotdogging through some of the most influential surfboard evolution designs and surfing pioneers' history.
The best part? The event benefits High Fives Foundation, a 501(c)3 that focuses on preventing life-changing injuries and provides resources and hope if they happen.
