Inspired by the high performance and big wave surfing of the late 1970s/early 80s in Australia and Hawai’i, Beamish shapes boards for “power-flow” surfing: that is, wave riding based on positioning and going with the wave, not against it. Beamish is known for channel bottom designs in single, twin, and “two-plus-one” fin configurations. Author of Voyage of the Cormorant (Patagonia Books 2012) about his single-handed expedition by sail and oars in Baja California aboard his self-built Shetland Isle beach boat Cormorant, Beamish loves surfing wilderness coastlines.
